Novefic (hereinafter referred to as "we") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy is designed to explain how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our mobile applications and related services (collectively referred to as "Services").

Please read this policy carefully. By accessing or using Novefic, you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information you directly provide

Account Data: When creating an account, we will collect your email address, username, and date of birth to verify your eligibility for use.

Profile Information: You may choose to add a personal avatar, personal profile, or other detailed information. Please note that such information may be visible to other users. Do not post or add personal data that you do not wish to be made public in your profile, and it is not recommended that you fill in your email address, instant message details, phone number, credit card information, ID card number, driver's license information, etc. in your profile to prevent such information from being misused. When posting sensitive information about yourself (such as religious beliefs, health status, sexual orientation, or ethnic background) in your profile, please exercise extreme caution. If you choose to provide us with your sensitive data, it means you give affirmative consent to disclose such information to other users.

User Content : includes stories you create, comments you post, reviews you write, reading lists you create, and any other content you generate within the Service.

Communication Records: When you contact our support team or participate in surveys, we will collect the content of your messages.

Payment-related Information: Purchases of goods or subscriptions are processed by third-party payment service providers, and we do not store complete payment card numbers. However, we may collect data related to the amount of your virtual goods purchases, purchase dates, and payment methods, and may also receive credit card-related data and transaction-related data, including transaction dates, times, amounts, and the type of payment method used.

1.2 Information We Automatically Collect

Data Usage: We collect data related to your interaction with the service, including the stories you read, the time spent, the features used, and search queries. Additionally, it includes data on how you browse and use the service, such as the types of content you view or engage with, the frequency and duration of activities.

Device Information: We collect device type, operating system, unique device identifier (such as GAID (Google Advertising ID) for Android and IDFA (Identifier for Advertisers) for iOS), IP address, and mobile network information. Additionally, based on the permissions you grant, we may also collect data from or related to the mobile phone or other devices on which you install or access our services. For example, when you wish to upload or take photos for your profile, we will request access to your device's photo album and camera. We may associate data collected from your different devices to help us provide you with consistent services across your various devices. Moreover, we also receive the URL of the website you were on before accessing our services and the URL of the website you will visit next.

Location Data: With your permission, we may collect approximate location information (city/country level) to provide localized content and advertising.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies : We use cookies, pixel tags, and similar technologies to track your activities within the service and maintain specific user preferences. Meanwhile, our advertising partners may use cookies to collect non-personal data about your activities on the website to provide you with targeted advertising based on your interests.

1.3 Juvenile-related Information

Novefic does not target children under 13 (under 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not intentionally collect personal data from children under this age. If we discover that such data has been collected, we will immediately take measures to delete it. If a parent or guardian believes that their child has provided personal data, please contact us via  novefic@outlook.com .

2. How We Use Your Information

We collect information for the following purposes:

Service Provision: Create and maintain your account, provide personalized story recommendations, and enable social features. For example, we will use your data to authenticate you, authorize your access to our services, and identify your identity within the services.

Payment Processing: Process transactions and deliver purchased virtual goods, while sending you notifications regarding the transactions.

Communication: We will send you service-related announcements, security alerts, and administrative information. With your consent, we may also send you promotional information. Among them, information regarding service availability, security, payment transactions, order status, legal notices, or other service-related information ("Service Messages") cannot be opted out of; while information regarding service updates (such as new books or new chapters to be launched in the service, "Update Messages") can be unsubscribed at any time.

Personalized Service: Customize your reading experience and display content that matches your preferences. For example, select a suitable Payment Processor for you, determine your eligibility for promotions, giveaways, and contests, and show you Personalized Ads with your consent.

Advertising: We display relevant advertisements to you through advertising partnerships and measure the effectiveness of these ads. We use data you provide while using the service (such as the amount of virtual currency you purchase on Novefic or the duration of your service usage) to display ads for third-party services. Our customization system can track which ads you see and which ones you click on, enabling us to provide you with more useful and relevant ads, such as avoiding repeatedly showing you the same ads.

Service Improvement: Analyze usage patterns, conduct research, and develop new features. We will use data from your use of and interaction with the service to improve the service, conduct surveys and research, test features under development, analyze existing data to evaluate the service, and perform audits and troubleshooting to improve the content and layout of the service.

Security Assurance: Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, security risks, and technical issues. Verify your identity (including during the account verification process), prevent, detect, investigate, resolve disputes, and/or correct malicious activities, fraud, other cybercrimes, take actions required by law, or ensure you are a genuine user and prevent the creation of fake accounts.

Legal Compliance: Comply with applicable laws, regulations, and legal procedures.

If we wish to use your personal data for new or different purposes, we will notify you. We will only use your personal data for such other purposes to the extent necessary, with the permission of applicable law, or with your consent.

3. Legal basis for data processing (European Economic Area / United Kingdom / Brazil / California)

If you are located in a specific jurisdiction, we will process your personal data based on the following legal bases:

Contract Performance: When processing data is necessary for the performance of services provided under our Terms of Service.

Obtaining Affirmative Consent : When we rely on your affirmative consent for specific processing activities (such as marketing communications or certain types of data collection).

Legitimate Interests: When we process data for legitimate business interests (such as improving services or preventing fraud) while ensuring that your privacy rights are respected.

Legal Obligations: When processing data is necessary to comply with applicable laws.

If you are an individual in the European Economic Area, the legal basis for our collection and use of your personal data will depend on the relevant personal data and the specific circumstances under which we collect the data. However, in general, we only collect your personal data in the following circumstances:

We have obtained your consent;

We need personal data to perform our contract with you (e.g., to provide the Novefic services you requested);

Data processing is in line with our or a third party's legitimate interests (and is not overridden by your data protection interests or fundamental rights and freedoms).

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We may share your information in the following circumstances:

Service Providers: Shared with trusted suppliers who assist us in providing hosting, payment processing, analytics, customer support, and advertising services. Third-party service providers and partner companies will only receive your data to the extent necessary to fulfill our contract with you or with your consent. In such cases, the scope of data sharing will be kept to a minimum. If our service providers have access to your personal data, we will ensure that they also comply with all applicable data protection laws.

Legal Requirements: When required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others. For example, in response to subpoenas or similar investigative requests, court orders, or requests for cooperation from law enforcement agencies or other government entities; to establish or exercise our legal rights; to defend against legal claims; or as otherwise required by law. In such cases, we may, at our discretion, assert or waive any legal objections or rights.

Business Transfer: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or part of the assets. For example, in connection with significant corporate transactions (such as business sales, asset stripping, mergers, acquisitions, or asset sales), or in the unlikely event of bankruptcy.

Other Users: According to your privacy setting, your profile information and user content may be visible to other Novefic users. For example, when you update or add photos (you can change the relevant settings), such information may be publicly displayed. Any data you include in your profile and any actions you perform on our service may be visible to other users.

Advertising Partners: We share limited data with advertising partners to provide relevant ads and measure their effectiveness. We collaborate with third-party AD Networks to manage our ad placements on other websites. We may provide you with customized ads outside of our services based on data related to your access and use of our services, as well as data received from third parties. To understand and improve the effectiveness of our ads, we may use cookies, device identifiers, and other technologies to identify that you have accessed our services or seen our ads on other websites, and provide this data to one or more third-party AD Networks. We may choose to partner with AD Networks such as Google AdWords, DoubleClick, Google Analytics, etc., each of which has its own Privacy Policy. The data we provide may include the time and date of your access to our services, the pages you browsed, the links you clicked, and other data that does not disclose your identity. We may use advertising technology data (such as unique cookies or similar tracking technologies, pixel codes, device identifiers, location, operating system information, email, etc.) on our services through various AD Networks and trading platforms to provide you with targeted ads. The ads you receive on other websites are customized based on your usage of our services and interest predictions when you visit different websites, and this type of ad customization is known as "Online Behavioral Advertising" or "Interest-Based Advertising".

We require all third parties to respect the security of your personal data and process such data in accordance with the law. Our Privacy Policy does not apply to any third-party advertisers and/or websites, etc., and we have no control over their activities.

5. International Data Transfers

As a global service, your personal data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your country of residence, including the US. The data protection laws in these countries may vary.

When we transfer personal data from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, or other regions with strict data protection laws, we will take appropriate safeguards, such as using standard contractual clauses approved by relevant authorities.

If we transfer personal data originating from the European Union and the European Economic Area to other countries or regions that are considered to provide inadequate protection under applicable data protection laws, we will take safeguards. We process data outside the European Union and the European Economic Area. Specifically, to provide our services, we need to transfer your personal data to [Country 1] and [Country 2]. In all cases, we use the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission as the legal mechanism for transferring data from the European Union. These clauses are contractual commitments between companies transferring personal data, binding them to protect the privacy and security of the data. Therefore, Novefic uses the standard contractual clauses to ensure that the data transfers required for providing, maintaining, and developing our services are conducted legally.

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include encryption during data transmission and storage, access control, and regular security evaluations. For example, when personal data is collected on Novefic and/or transferred to other websites, we use encryption technologies (such as the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol) to protect it.

However, there are usually security risks associated with transmitting data over the Internet or storing data electronically. Therefore, please ensure that you do not provide your login data to any third party. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we will do our best to protect your personal data in a commercially acceptable manner.

7. Data Retention

We only retain your personal data for as long as necessary to achieve the purposes described in this Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

Account data : Retained during the active period of your account and for a reasonable period after the account is closed to facilitate account recovery or meet legal requirements.

Usage data : Usually retained for 24 months from the date of collection.

Transaction Records: Retained for 7 years for accounting and tax purposes. We are obliged to retain the data you provide to us, including ensuring that transactions can be properly processed, settled, refunded, or disputes resolved, helping to identify fraud, and complying with Anti Money Laundering laws and other laws and regulations applicable to us and our Financial Services providers. Therefore, even if you close your account, we will still retain certain data to fulfill our obligations.

Marketing data: Retained until you withdraw your consent or unsubscribe.

You may delete your personal data as required in Article 9.

8. Children's Privacy

Novefic does not target children under 13 (under 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not intentionally collect personal data from children under this age. If we discover that such data has been collected, we will immediately take measures to delete it. 9. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding personal data:

Right of access and right to data portability: Request a copy of your personal data, which must be in a structured, machine-readable format. You may request information about your personal data processed by us at any time free of charge.

Right of rectification: Update or correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data.

Right to erasure: Request the deletion of your personal data under specific circumstances.

Right to Restrict Processing: Request temporary restriction of the processing of your personal data under specific circumstances.

Right to Object: Based on legitimate interests, object to the processing of your personal data, including profiling analysis.

Right to Withdraw Consent: Withdraw previously given consent at any time.

Cancel Marketing Subscription Rights: Unsubscribe from marketing communications via the link in any marketing email.

Advertising Control: Opt out of receiving Personalized Ads through device settings (such as "Limit Ad Tracking" on iOS or "Opt out of Ad Personalization" on Android). You can also opt out of receiving Personalized Ads provided by NAI members or third-party advertisers and AD Networks that comply with the Digital Advertising Alliance's Self-Regulatory Principles for Online Behavioral Advertising by visiting the opt-out pages on the websites of the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) and the Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA).

Currently, there is no industry standard for the "Do Not Track" browser signal, so we will not respond to it.

If you wish to exercise the above rights, please send an email to novefic@outlook.com. We will respond within 30 days and may request additional information from you to verify your identity. If you send us a request via email, please clearly state in the email which personal data you wish to change or delete. To protect your rights and interests, we may only process requests related to the personal data associated with the specific email address you used to send the request, and we may need to verify your identity before processing your request. We will fulfill your request as soon as reasonably practicable.

10. Third-Party Links and Services

Our services may contain links to third-party websites, services, or advertisements. This Privacy Policy does not apply to such third parties, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices. We recommend that you review the privacy policies of third parties before providing them with any personal data. You can click on links at various locations within our services to access other websites that are not governed by this Privacy Policy. For example, if you click on an advertisement on our services, you may be directed to a website that we do not control. These third-party websites may independently request and collect your data (including personal data), and in some cases, provide us with data on your activities on these websites. When accessing these websites, we recommend that you review the privacy statements of all third-party websites by clicking on the "Privacy" link, which is usually located at the bottom of the webpage.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last Updated Date" at the top indicates the time of the most recent revision. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the Service, email, or other means required by law. Your continued use of Novefic after receiving notice of the changes indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.

If you do not agree to the changes to this Privacy Policy, please close your personal profile. If you continue to use our services after we send you a notice of the Privacy Policy changes, it means you agree to the updated Privacy Policy. For your convenience, we will also publish the last updated date of this Privacy Policy. We recommend that you add Novefic to the authorized sender list of your email reader.
